Personal Shopping Trip

This week I was lucky enough to experience my first personal shopping trip. It was such a blast, and something I can so see myself doing many more times in the future.

Why Personal Shopping?

I was that diva that was picking out my outfits once I could walk, and telling my mom "no" to items. What kind of kid does that?! LOL

Shopping has always just been my thing.

Ask anyone that knows me well, and I guarantee they will tell you one of my hobbies is shopping. I have dreamed of being a personal shopper since I knew that was a career. I was good at shopping and wanted to use my skills for a job I'd love, I mean isn't that the ultimate goal in life?

I am nowhere near making it a career, but I am a huge believer in having goals, especially ones that are something you are passionate about. I think the coolest part for me personally is helping others with your gifts God gave you. Maybe I was put on this Earth to be a personal shopper and help others feel great, or maybe I was put here to dream about it. Either way life takes me will be alright with me!

My Client

I am so thankful for my sweet friend, Rachel. We caused chaos in daycare, and are still friends today (that is true friendship). She just started an awesome career, and asked me if I would help her pick out a few things for her new job. Obviously I said yes, a chance to shop and hang with her was a chance I couldn't pass up!

My Strategy

Once I said yes I thought to myself, "Crap, I guess I should figure out how exactly I want to do this personal shopping thing."

So here is what I came up with to start with:

  • I want to shop with the person the first time I shop for them
    • I need to know what colors they look good in, what colors they hate, and what they gravitate towards in general.
  • I want to get to know them better during that time, if I already don't know them well of course
    • Knowing someone's personality tells me a ton about what style of clothes they would wear (which is why shopping for Rachel was easier than most since I've known her since I was 3 )
  • Lastly, I need to know brands they love and hate, and their price range.
    • I will definitely stay in budget, but I may throw a few brands at you that you hate if I find something I absolutely love.
Our Haul

Rachel and I did very well during our short trip. I think we spent three hours shopping or less. We ended up with 11 articles of clothing for $158! No typo folks, we bargain shopped our booties off!

She came away with 5 tops, 2 dresses, 1 jumpsuit, and 3 bottoms.

Something I was excited to do was give her a couple tops and looks she could wear to work or casually. Nothing is better than dual purpose clothing. These tops are both work appropriate, and pair nicely with denim.

Next are a couple dresses for work. However both could be worn for other occasions, especially the light blue maxi dress, which is perfect for a summer date night.

This next outfit is such a cute summer look, I love the color combination. I also love a good pattern with small details that match the solid of the outfit.

Lastly, I picked out this adorable wide leg black jumper. This outfit could be worn for so many occasions it is crazy. Dress it up with heels for a night out or dress it down with flats for work. I love it so much, and Rachel's exact words were, " Wow, I never would have grabbed this off the rack myself." I am so glad I did, because it looks so great on her!

That is the recap of my first personal shopping trip. If you or a friend want me to tag along with you all just give me a shout! Shopping is so much fun for me, and like I said who knows where this hobby will take me.

More to Come,

Small Town Fashionista
